Covering 28,000 sq.ft., the Squiala Community Centre is a landmark project that blends cultural heritage with modern construction. At its heart is a tilt-up concrete gymnasium spanned by custom glulam and HSS composite trusses, creating an open, light-filled space for sports, gatherings, and community events. Surrounding the central gymnasium, wood-frame construction houses the offices, lobbies, commercial kitchen, classrooms, computer lab, and storage areas, providing a versatile facility for a wide range of programs. The design integrates architectural concrete, glulam beams, and log elements, drawing inspiration from West Coast architecture and reflecting the rich traditions of the Squiala First Nation. Durable materials, thoughtful detailing, and cultural references combine to create a welcoming, multi-purpose building that will serve the community for generations.
