The project consists of a major expansion of Dow’s Fort Saskatchewan site, originally established in 1961, comprising two primary buildings: the Dow Diamond administrative building and the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Centre, located on a 25-acre parcel. The development is designed to support long-term operational growth while aligning with LEED Silver and carbon-neutral design objectives.
The Dow Diamond is a two-storey administrative facility accommodating up to approximately 200 occupants. The building form is defined by a geometric plan inspired by the Dow logo and is constructed primarily using precast concrete panels in combination with glass curtain wall systems. The structural design supports large open floor plates, double-height amenity spaces, and extensive perimeter glazing while maintaining durability and energy performance appropriate for an industrial campus environment. The ground floor contains large-span collaborative and assembly areas, including an auditorium and communal spaces, while the second floor is composed of open office areas, enclosed rooms, and support spaces requiring flexible structural planning.
Precast concrete plays a key role in establishing the building’s architectural expression, durability, and thermal performance. Panel geometry reflects the angular building form, with coordinated detailing to accommodate façade articulation, curtain wall interfaces, and long-term maintenance considerations. The structure is designed to withstand Alberta climate conditions while supporting sustainability and lifecycle performance goals.
